HGTV Obsession

I’ve been obsessed with HGTV. It’s funny that I watch this channel all the time now, because my ex was obsessed with HGTV. The DVR would be full of the shows he watched and I would complain about it. I got tired of him watching this channel all the time, but I did watch some shows with him.

The four shows I like are Property Brothers, Fixer Upper, Love It or List It and Flip or Flop. I’m amazed at the renovations and how beautiful they are. Also, the stars of the shows are entertaining and funny. There’s not one show that I like more than the other. All of them do renovations, but the shows are different.

Property Brothers has twin brothers Drew and Jonathan creating a couple’s dream home from a fixer upper. Love It or List It has Hilary and David competing against each other where Hilary improves a couple’s existing home as David shows them new homes trying to get them to sell. Flip or Flop is about couple Tarek and Christina fixing up homes and some of these houses are real dumps. Fixer Upper is about couple Chip and Joanna fixing up a couple’s new home that is a fixer upper.

After spending hours watching these HGTV shows, I want the stars of these shows to do the renovations on my house when I get one.

Vegas Adventures

Arrived in Vegas Tuesday night starving and sleep deprived, Katie got two hours and I slept five hours. However, we were at sea level and living in altitude for so long or maybe it was excitement why Katie and I were not tired. First thing we did, we went to Nobu for some sushi.

When we arrived there and sat down at the bar, this guy offered to buy us a drink. I ordered a Pina Martini and Katie got a Bloody Mary. The guy said he wasn’t trying to pick us up…LOL. He must have mistaken us for young and stupid. After saying, he wasn’t trying to pick us up the guy either didn’t have game or my F*#k off vibe kept him from working us.

He stopped trying to have a conversation with us. When the drinks came and he didn’t pay for them right away I knew the guy was a schmuck and we were going to be left paying for them, which is exactly what happen. But, it didn’t matter to us, because we didn’t go to Vegas to get picked up by some Sugar Daddies or hit on at all.

It was a Girls’ Holiday and Katie and I were there to have fun minus boys.

After we had our sushi snack, Katie showed me around Caesar’s Palace. As you can see from the pictures, we were transported to Rome. We ate gelato while taking in the sites of the Roman Palace and couture shops.

After checking out Caesar’s Palace, Katie showed me the Bellagio and as you can see they have a fish theme. I loved it, because I want an aquarium filled with colorful fish.

While we were walking around, a guy approached us and asked us if we wanted to party. In Vegas, do we want to party? Katie and I looked at each other and at the same time answered the guy, YES! He gave us six FREE drink vouchers and got us into Club Hyde for Free. He worked there and they were looking for more ladies to fill up their club, lucky us!

Katie and I had so much fun dancing and drinking our free drinks. The champagne didn’t taste great, but we didn’t care since it was FREE. Confetti would spray down every once and awhile, but I didn’t get a shot of it.

We enjoyed ourselves until the club closed. It was 4 a.m. by the time we dragged our tired butts to bed.

The Bellagio water display was on the top of the list for the next day. I wanted to see this every since I saw it in the movie Ocean’s Eleven. We were going to go back and watch it when it was dark, but ran out of time. I got to see the water dance around and that’s all that mattered.

We thought we had lots of time before 9 p.m., but time seem to fly on this day. It was a mad dash to buy some Victoria Secret panties then back to the hotel to change. Yes, we went all the way to Vegas to buy VS boy shorts..LOL. The sale on the panties was only for that night, so we had to take advantage of the 8/$27.50 panties.

Lyft was our mode of transportation everywhere we went in Vegas. The Uber driver that took me to the airport in Denver told me to take Lyft while in Vegas, because during the week it was half off the price.

Our Lyft driver showed us the volcano at the Mirage as we we were going to Paris to have a snack at Gordon Ramsay’s restaurant. We ran out of time and didn’t have time for a whole meal.

At Ramsay’s, we had fingerling potatoes and sticky, toffee pudding. Both were very yummy. Katie had a Bloody Mary, her favorite drink if you haven’t figured that out already. And mine is martinis, the guy I was dating introduced them to me and they’ve become a preferred drink. I had a strawberry martini and everywhere we went everyone made a fab martini.

The light art in the pic Katie said it’s of Ramsay cooking.

This night ended with the Thunder from Down Under. Blog to come soon.

Prince: Celebrity Death

It took a few days before I cried over Prince being gone. I spent the first few days in disbelief about the news of his passing, despite, watching all the videos posted about Prince.

Then today, I was watching Elton John’s Tribute to Prince and I couldn’t stop the tears. Why the Elton John Tribute? I don’t know. Maybe, it was just enough time for the reality of Prince’s death, finally, sinking in.

The passing of Prince is the first celebrity loss for me. I’ve listened to his music since I was a teenager and when I found out he was in concert while living in Texas I was so excited to see him.

I lost all of Prince’s music that I had when my Mp3 player broke. The only place I have it now is on my Amazon music account. I’ve been listening to his songs 24/7. He was so unique and daring along with his talent. This is why Prince was so appealing to me, because he was a rebel and did what he wanted.

Despite being a rebel, Prince was very giving, which no one knew about until his death. Prince’s long-time friend Van Jone’s interview with CNN.

Prince was not just a music sensation, but a Star with a Huge Heart helping friends, family and making a difference in people’s lives.

Positive Thinking: What was Great About Today

For April 23 and 24, 2016

  1. Seeing Wanda Sykes, Saturday April 23. It was a fun night filled with laughs.
  2. Sitting on the stage, where Wanda performed. We could have touched her we were so close.
  3. Having a Ladies Night, getting dressed up, going out, and having a good time.
  4. Eating at one of my favorite restaurants, Maggianos.
  5. Drinking some really tasty wine, Seven Daughters Moscato white wine, very fruity.
  6. Trying a Lemon Drop Martini, it was DEE lish.
  7. Giving our leftover Maggianos to homeless kids and their four dogs.
  8. Being able to walk around in high heel boots and not being in too much agony.
  9. Hanging out with a friend and having a Sex and the City moment, drinks and talking about our guy problems.
  10. Watching the movie Sisters with a friend.
  11.  Watching Prince and Lenny Kravitz perform together, that would have been a dream concert to be at with those two on stage together.
  12. Not being too hung over, despite that I drank more than usual Saturday night and mixed my alcohol, wine and Vodka.
  13. Going on a run and feeling better after my very late Saturday night.
  14. Watching Burnt, finally, after renting it three times and it was really good.
  15. Having a lazy day of really doing nothing and not stressing over doing nothing.
  16. Coming to conclusions about a situation and realizing that a particular person in my life really views me poorly and negative and not the right person for me.
  17. Being firm on what I want in a relationship and not just accepting what a guy wants to give to be with him. I’d rather be alone then settle.
  18. Making plans with a friend for some future fun times.
  19. Giving my pups hugs, they were with my ex on Saturday and, of course, I missed them even though it was only one day they were gone.
  20. Laughing, I try to do it every day.

Music Feeds the Soul

The artists in the picture are some of my top favorites. What makes them a top fav of mine? I like more than one song that they created and I can listen to them over and over and over.

I’m fascinated by their talent and charisma that shows through their music. Prince and Usher have a sex appeal that oozes from them as they sing. Lady Gaga and Freddie Mercury’s vocal talents amaze me. I discovered Creed when I was taking care of my mom when she found out she had cancer. There’s something about Creed’s music that helped me through that time with my mother.

The lyrics in the songs by the artists reflect our feelings or situations that we are going through. There’s something about music that touches our soul. It can lift our spirits when the days are dark and get us through difficult times. How music does that I’m not really sure.

But I do know music will, always, be apart of my life.

I can’t believe Prince is gone. I’ve loved his music for so long. And, I watched his movie, Purple Rain. When I lived in Texas I saw him in concert and he was Fantastic.

In honor of Prince, some of his songs that I’ll, always Love.

Purple Rain

When Doves Cry

There was no one like Prince.

Prince is a Legend

Positive Thinking: What was Great about Today

images (8)

This is for Monday, April 18th. I’m a little late writing this, but better late than never,  right?

  1. It was a  ME day. I didn’t work. I just enjoyed the day.
  2. Watched the movies, Concussion and Daddy’s Home.
  3. I woke up early enough after getting home this morning from work to go on a run.
  4. Eating chocolate chip cookies, I have fat to lose in my belly, but I still indulge.
  5. I enjoyed being outside and the nice weather.
  6. Finally bought a frame for my Kandinsky.
  7. I didn’t worry about anything (for too long)…lol
  8. After work, I got groceries, so I could just do me things when I woke up.
  9. I just did fun things and ignored the laundry and the house cleaning.
  10. It was a zen day.

I’m a fan of football. I enjoy watching it and cheer on the Hawkeye Football Team and the Broncos.

And the fact that the NFL kept quiet about the damage the players were enduring to their brain, it disappoints me and pisses me off.

I dated a Hawkeye football player in college and he would say all the time how the players were just there to use and the coaches didn’t care about them. He was right.

It makes me sad that Money, Entertainment and Status over rules human life. This is the message that I got from watching Concussion.

I applaud Dr. Bennet Amulu for his bravery to take on the BIG NFL organization. Dr. Amulu didn’t take on the NFL for fame and money, he was a doctor and about saving lives. Despite that Dr. Amulu is a coroner, he kept trying to figure out why Mike Webster died. After he discovered the cause, the doctor’s focus was on saving other football players, who could be suffering from Chronic Traumatic Encephalopathy (CTE). Dr. Amulu continues today to find a way to prevent CTE from producing tau protein, which kills cells in the brain that are responsible for emotions, mood and cognitive control.

Some NFL players and sports lovers may feel that the fame and money are worth the risk of getting CTE, so Dr. Amulu’s discovery of CTE and the controversy it caused was insignificant.

Because Football is Number One in America.

Movie Night

This is a rare moment for me. I’m, usually, doing something and rarely watch T.V. or rent movies.

Since, I’m taking a small break from working on my book to give my brain a break and my book is fresh to me when I go back to it next week.

I went to Redbox and got Daddy’s Home, Concussion, and Burnt, movies I’ve wanted to see for some time.

Reviews of the movies coming soon.
